Job description
About the Role
We’re looking for someone to be our eyes and camera in the New York office. Helaina’s most valuable content is the stuff that happens live: our founder explaining the science, the team in the lab, a customer visit, a milestone hit on a Monday morning. Right now most of it goes uncaptured.
Three things sit inside this role, and they matter equally:
Helaina, the company — Our Instagram is about Helaina, not just the product — culture, people, science, milestones, the founder’s story.
Laura’s own channels — Supporting our CEO’s content so her voice shows up consistently.
effera® — Our lead ingredient and the thing most often being explained — but not the whole story.
You will shoot on site, edit, and deliver an agreed set of finished assets each month.
What You’ll Do
Shoot short-form video in the NYC office against a monthly content plan agreed with your manager.
Act as the point person for founder content. When Laura is writing, presenting, hosting, or explaining something, you are the one who captures it.
Direct simple on-camera setups, including talking-head pieces with the CEO and members of the science and commercial teams.
Edit your own footage to finished, caption-ready assets sized correctly for Instagram and LinkedIn.
Cover company culture, team moments, lab and production, and lighter formats where they suit the brand.
Maintain a clear shot log and organized asset library in Google Drive so footage is reusable.
Come in with two or three ideas of your own, but take overall direction from the marketing manager.
Flag anything that touches product claims or study data to your manager before it is scheduled. Everything we publish about effera® goes through a review step.
About You
You shoot on a phone and it looks intentional, not accidental. You have a reel we can watch.
You edit competently in CapCut, Premiere, Final Cut, or Canva. We’re not precious about the tool.
You work independently. We have an external designer who can help occasionally, but this role is not built around leaning on her — you can take something from idea to finished asset yourself.
You’re flexible on scheduling. Time in the office moves around the CEO’s calendar, so you can work with dates that shift.
You understand how Instagram and LinkedIn actually behave, not just how they look. You can explain why a post worked.
You’re comfortable directing a CEO — asking for another take, moving someone into better light, and holding your ground on the shot.
Bonus points for any interest in science, nutrition, biotech, or health, or for experience making technical subject matter feel human.
Bonus points for basic graphic or motion work in Canva or After Effects.
