Essential Responsibilities

Access Control

Greet members and guests warmly, assisting those with physical or other needs.
Manage visitor access: ensure everyone entering the building is wearing a TRS name badge or signs in with a photo ID and receives a temporary badge.
Create permanent badges for temple members as needed.
Contact temple staff to inform them when appointments have arrived.

Welcoming

Answer calls to the main temple phone line and resolve appropriately.
Monitor the general email address, responding to inquires or forwarding to the appropriate person as needed.
Be familiar with schedule of programs and events, direct visitors appropriately.
Maintain a clean and orderly lobby, contacting facilities staff as needed.

Safety & Security

Know the building: report anything out of place, missing, or does not appear to belong.
Monitor security cameras regularly throughout the day, report any issues to supervisor.
Remain alert: report suspicious behaviors, unusual events or objects to other Safety Team members and Executive Director.
Attend staff trainings and virtual trainings as needed.
Follow the Safety and Security standard operating procedures.
Be familiar with the temple’s Emergency Action Plan in case issues arise related to the safety of the people onsite and property.
Maintain the educational security information cards shared in public spaces

Administrative Support

Provide basic administrative support to the Executive Director (calendar meetings, check voicemail, reserve spaces, etc.)
Assist with preparation of congregational mailings as needed.

Other Duties as Assigned

Participate in training as needed: life safety, first aid, de-escalation, etc.
Serve as part of the High Holy Days team, able to support a range of projects.
Work select Jewish holidays including, but not limited to, Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur.

Core Competencies and Qualifications

Well-developed safety and first aid skills, able to adapt to nuanced situations that may arise.
Mature self-starter: Ability to take initiative and follow through.
Strong verbal communication skills, including diplomacy and tact.
Relate well to all kinds of people; build effective and constructive relationships.
Proficient at using computer programs for security cameras and other temple resources.
Law enforcement or military experience a plus.
Facilities security experience a plus.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Requirements

Ability to move throughout building and grounds numerous times throughout the day
Ability to sit at a desk for at least 1 hour at a time, using a computer and telephone
Ability to lift objects of up to 15 pounds
