About the Religious School

B'ShERT's religious school philosophy focuses on instilling a love of Judaism in our students.

B'ShERT's religious school meets in person once a week on Saturday mornings. Then, during the weekdays, students learn Hebrew decoding skills remotely on Zoom with a Hebrew teacher, with 1–2 students per session. This is a part-time position of five or fewer hours per week, running ASAP through mid-June 2027.

Essential Duties

Teach Hebrew lessons on Zoom using provided curriculum materials, focusing on decoding skills, tefillah reading skills, and Modern Hebrew as needed.
Differentiate provided curriculum materials to support all learners.
Collaborate with the Education Director and Rabbi to support students as they prepare for the brit-mitzvah (bar/bat/bnei/b'mitzvah) process.
Track and document student progress after each lesson, as guided by the Education Director.
Attend occasional faculty meetings (dates TBD).

Required Qualifications

Hebrew proficiency (fluent speaking ability preferred)
Weekday afternoon availability
Classroom teaching experience or experience working with children (camp, in-classroom teaching, after-school programming)
Belief in belonging for all—everyone belongs at B'ShERT
Weekday afternoon availability (less than 5 hours a week)
Ability to teach on Zoom
