Overview
This role is focused on bringing structure and consistency to the company’s hiring and HR processes. A key focus is understanding each department and its roles, improving hiring decisions, and partnering with leadership to identify and hire the right people.
The role also supports ongoing HR needs, including employee relations, documentation, separations, policies, and internal processes. Traditional HR experience is not required for someone with strong people-management, hiring, and process-building experience.
Ideal Background
The ideal candidate has experience managing multiple teams, hiring and firing employees, evaluating talent, holding people accountable, and building SOPs and processes. Someone who has owned these responsibilities as an Operations Manager, General Manager, Director, or other people leadership role may be a strong fit even without a formal HR background.
Responsibilities
Partner with leadership and department managers to understand each department, define what each role requires, and create clear, accurate job descriptions.
Interview and evaluate candidates, using strong judgment to assess fit and partner with leadership on hiring decisions.
Improve and organize hiring processes to create greater consistency and clarity.
Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and create clear SOPs that bring greater structure and consistency across the organization.
Support employee relations and address day-to-day people issues as they arise.
Handle employee separations and related documentation.
Create, update, and maintain company policies and employee documentation.
Maintain organized HR records and people-related processes.
Qualifications
Proven experience managing and developing multiple teams.
Hands-on experience interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and terminating employees.
Strong ability to understand different roles, assess people, and determine fit.
Experience creating SOPs, processes, and clear expectations for teams.
Strong organizational skills and ability to bring structure to growing or evolving operations.
Sound judgment when handling employee and performance issues.
HR experience is a plus, but not required for candidates with substantial people-management and hiring experience.
