High Holy Days Cantorial Soloist

Congregation Bnai Shalom, a Reform/Conservative synagogue in Easton, PA, is looking for a Cantorial Soloist to help provide meaningful and uplifting High Holy Days services. The Soloist will share the role with a congregant lay cantor; this position is for Erev Rosh Hashanah (joint), Rosh Hashanah Day 1 (solo), Kol Nidre (joint), and Yom Kippur Morning through Yizkor (solo). All other services are covered by the lay cantor and/or the Rabbi. The lay cantor and other congregants chant Torah and Haftarah. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with both Reform and Conservative melodies and familiar with the Mishkan haNefesh machzor. The Cantorial Soloist is expected to sing or chant all solo prayers and lead the congregation in communal prayers. They will partner closely with the Rabbi, who is also a trained singer and who has prepared a detailed spreadsheet of the order of each service. While there is no formal choir, the congregation actively and enthusiastically participates in services. We do not use accompaniment.
