Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer - AI-Native (.NET/C# & Angular)

About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer who embraces AI as a core part of modern software development.

AI is fundamentally changing how software is built. We are looking for engineers who can use AI to materially increase their output while raising the standard of what they deliver.

This is not an "AI Engineer" role focused primarily on building AI features. It is a senior software engineering role for someone who uses AI throughout the development lifecycle to understand requirements, investigate systems, architect solutions, plan implementation, build, review, test, troubleshoot, and document software.

We also expect our engineers to own the technical solution, not simply the code. You will be expected to understand the problem, challenge and strengthen the solution, make sound technical decisions, validate what is built, and stand behind the outcome.

Empeon is a healthcare-focused enterprise HCM SaaS platform supporting business-critical areas including payroll, tax, money movement, workforce management, HR, benefits, and employee data. Speed matters, but so do correctness, security, data integrity, reliability, performance, and maintainability.

What You'll Do

• Own technical solutions end-to-end, from understanding the problem and architecture through implementation, testing, validation, documentation, and production readiness.
• Use modern AI development tools throughout the engineering lifecycle to improve speed, depth, and quality.
• Steer AI toward the right technical solution. Use strong engineering judgment to define the architecture and approach, provide the right context and direction, challenge assumptions, and course-correct when necessary.
• Use AI to dissect requirements, identify gaps and edge cases, investigate the codebase, understand dependencies and blast radius, explore technical approaches, and plan before implementation.
• Design and build scalable, production-grade applications using .NET/C#, Angular, and SQL Server.
• Architect systems for high performance, reliability, scalability, and large data volumes.
• Review and validate AI-generated implementation, including expected versus actual changes, regression risks, data impact, security, and permissions.
• Build strong automated test coverage and personally test and validate what you deliver.
• Debug complex technical and production issues and take ownership of genuine defects in the solutions you build.
• Build and maintain APIs, integrations, background jobs, event-driven systems, and complex application workflows.
• Produce useful technical documentation so other engineers and future AI-assisted development can safely understand, support, and extend the solution.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of strong, hands-on full-stack software engineering experience, with deep experience in .NET/C# and modern frontend development using Angular.
• Hands-on experience using modern AI development tools as part of the software engineering workflow, with a strong interest in pushing their capabilities further.
• Ability to effectively direct and evaluate AI-generated work, using strong engineering fundamentals and judgment to guide architecture, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Strong software architecture, systems-design, and engineering judgment.
• Strong SQL Server and relational database experience, including data modeling, performance optimization, and working with large datasets.
• Experience designing scalable, maintainable, high-performance production systems, including APIs, integrations, and event-driven workflows.
• Strong automated-testing, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work through ambiguity, challenge assumptions, identify missing requirements and edge cases, and turn business needs into strong technical solutions.
• A strong ownership mindset and a desire to continually improve how you build software as AI development capabilities evolve.

Nice to Have

• Experience building healthcare, payroll, HCM, financial, or other business-critical SaaS platforms.
• Experience with Hangfire, Azure Service Bus, SignalR, or similar technologies.
• Experience with DevExtreme or similar enterprise UI component libraries.
• Experience with complex integrations, background processing, money movement, or other high-reliability systems.
