Position Summary

Temple Emanuel of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, seeks an enthusiastic, creative part-time Religious School Director to lead its growing educational programs serving about 65 students in a close knit, inclusive community. In partnership with temple leadership, the Director builds curriculum and Hebrew learning, creates teen programming, manages faculty, and communicates effectively with family to foster a warm, inclusive Reform Jewish identity.

Duties and Responsibilities

Lead school vision and day-to-day operations; oversee curriculum, lesson planning, family education, and youth programming. Recruit, train, and evaluate teachers, tutors, and teen madrichim; provide instructional support for all students, including neurodivergent learners. Serve as the primary point of contact for families; recruit parent volunteers.

Qualifications and Skills

Background in formal or informal Jewish education (school, camp, or youth leadership). Deep understanding of Reform Jewish traditions and rituals. Moderate to expert-level Hebrew skills, comfortable supporting prayer and Brit Mitzvah preparation. Strong written and verbal communication skills, highly organized, self-motivated, collaborative; mastery of basic office and virtual meeting technology. Degree in Jewish Education,Teaching, Judaic Studies, or related field preferred.
