Job description
Replacement
As our Principal Cloud Architect, you will be the technical authority for Intelex's public cloud evolution; designing resilient, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure that underpins both our core SaaS platform and emerging AI capabilities. You will work at the intersection of infrastructure, platform engineering, and product strategy, partnering closely with Engineering, InfoSec, and Data & AI teams to set standards and drive execution.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Strategy & Architecture
Define and own the cloud architecture vision, standards, and roadmap for Intelex's AWS-first (multi-cloud aware) infrastructure
Design highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure encompassing networking, security controls, performance engineering, and cost optimization
Evaluate and recommend cloud-native services, emerging technologies, and architectural patterns aligned with product and business objectives
Lead assessment and execution of cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including legacy system re-platforming
AI & Data Platform Enablement
Architect cloud infrastructure to support Intelex's AI product portfolio; including scalable model serving, data pipelines, and LLM integrations
Collaborate with the Data & AI team to ensure Snowflake, S3-based data lake, and real-time streaming infrastructure are production-grade and cost-efficient
Establish infrastructure guardrails for responsible AI deployment including data residency, access controls, and audit logging
Engineering Collaboration & Standards
Partner with Engineering, CloudOps, SRE, and DevOps teams on roadmap planning and delivery execution
Define and enforce Infrastructure-as-Code standards using Terraform, with emphasis on reusable modules, security scanning, and CI-driven validation
Establish and maintain CI/CD pipeline standards (GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy) for infrastructure and application delivery
Champion developer experience by reducing infrastructure toil and enabling self-service provisioning within guardrails
Security, Governance & Compliance
Partner with InfoSec to implement cloud security best practices, enforce least-privilege access, and maintain compliance posture (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR)
Lead cloud security reviews and contribute to Intelex's AI security and governance framework
Represent Intelex in technical discussions with enterprise customers, partners, and auditors on cloud and infrastructure topics
Observability & Reliability
Define and implement observability standards across metrics, logs, and traces using New Relic, CloudWatch, and Azure Monitor
Drive SLO/SLA definition and reliability improvements across critical SaaS services
Lead major incident response coordination and contribute to blameless post-mortem culture
Required Education
B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Required Experience
8+ years in cloud infrastructure, CloudOps, DevOps, or SRE roles supporting highly available SaaS/production platforms
5+ years hands-on AWS architecture experience; AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification preferred
Required Competencies:
Proven expertise in Terraform module design, security policy-as-code, and CI-integrated infrastructure validation
Strong proficiency with containerization and orchestration: Kubernetes (EKS / AKS), AWS ECS, and Docker
Solid CI/CD pipeline experience with GitHub Actions; familiarity with Octopus Deploy or Jenkins
Scripting fluency in Bash, Python, and PowerShell for automation and operational tooling
Experience architecting for compliance-sensitive environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR / PIPEDA)
Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting architecture decisions to leadership, senior engineers, and non-technical stakeholders
Strongly Preferred Competencies:
Azure architecture experience (AKS, Azure Monitor, Azure AD, Azure SQL)
Hands-on experience with data platform infrastructure: Snowflake, Amazon RDS / Aurora, Redis
Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure: model serving, GPU instances, vector databases, LLM API integrations
Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost governance tooling
Experience in multi-tenant SaaS architecture patterns
Linux / Unix systems administration depth (OS hardening, networking, firewalls, load balancers)
Other Requirements
Please note that this role requires a satisfactory Criminal Background Check and Public Safety Verification.
