Job description

Position Objectives

Jerusalem American International School seeks a  candidate who can deliver a STEAM Curriculum  to grades 2-9 and be able to help facilitate a FLL robotics competition team.  The ideal candidate would also be able to tutor Hebrew to students from 5th grade to 9th grade.

Guided by our vision to nurture a diverse learning community of reflective learners who are growing into compassionate and responsible citizens, we seek educators with a strong understanding of inspiring students across the Grade 2- 9 Grade levels.

 

For STEAM: The ideal candidate will follow an inquiry-based curriculum and give instruction that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and real-world application through STEM/STEAM learning experiences.

 

For Hebrew: The tutor would be a fluent Hebrew Speaker who can tutor advanced upper school learners . In addition, if required the candidate would need to teach basic level (letters and vocabulary) through fun activities to younger students who are not mother tongue speakers.

The candidate would actively contribute to the life and culture of the school, collaborate with colleagues, follow the set curriculum for STEAM adhering to all health and safety guidelines, and engage positively with students, families, and the international school community.

 

Essential Responsibilities

Ability to differentiate for different levels of learners and emotional/ behavioral needs

Ability to include learners with varying degrees of English language proficiency

Collaborate with students, teachers, parents, and leadership

Plan and supervise FIRST FLL Challenge robotics program

Other duties as required

Promote Digital citizenship and set students up to use technology in safe, kind and safeguarded  ways.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

Qualification to teach STEAM in schools

Relevant experience as  STEAM teacher

Fluent Hebrew

Fluent English

 

Position expectations:

To excel in this position, an individual must successfully perform each essential responsibility in addition to the following:

Classroom technology – be familiar with educational technology such as GSuite and online

learning management systems.

Classroom facilitation – effectively orchestrate a class with high learning impact by

incorporating best practices into the classroom.

Curriculum development – contribute to the development and documentation of curricular

documents (unit plans, assessments, standards documentation, etc.).

Communication skills – proactively communicate to integrate all community stakeholders

into the learning process.

 

Ability to work fulltime and after hours on enrichment programs

Guide practice in accordance with the JAIS Mission, Vision & Profile of a Learner:

Build meaningful relationships and dialogue with children in a warm and respectful manner that instills joy in learning and nurtures critical thinking, independence and a positive self-concept.

Participate in team meetings and in ongoing professional development. Take initiative to seek out opportunities to build on knowledge.

Supervise recess.

Share in communicating with parents regarding individual student progress and/or specific behaviors.
