Job description
KEY COMPETENCIES INCLUDE:
SKILLS:
Demonstrated outstanding skills in designing and implementing individualized instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students with special needs, including modifications and accommodations to curriculum and instruction;
Excellent ability to effectively manage challenging behaviors in the classroom, employing positive behavior support strategies, de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution strategies, and crisis intervention when necessary.
Excellent communication skills in order to interact with students with diverse backgrounds and all levels of stakeholders, such as parents, community members.
KNOWLEDGE:
Familiarity with different types of learners and their academic, social and emotional needs.
Excellent proven knowledge of various intervention strategies e.g. Orton-Gillingham, etc;
Excellent knowledge of phonics, reading, “reading recovery”, math and other skills such as structuring assignments and researching, to ensure that Inclusion students are supported in academic growth.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Will be a part of a team supporting students on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with Inclusion needs, collaborating with parents, teachers, and support staff to set meaningful goals and track progress.
Ability to use systems to assess and monitor the academic, social, and behavioral progress of students, providing regular progress reports to parents and stakeholders.
JUDGMENT:
Proven ability to adapt teaching methods, materials, and classroom environments to meet the changing needs of students.
