Job description
The Senior Tax Manager / Tax Principal will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive tax compliance, planning, and advisory services to high-net-worth individuals and families. This position requires strong technical expertise, exceptional client service skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex engagements in a fast-paced environment.
Based in New York City, this individual will work closely with clients and members of their broader wealth management teams to provide proactive tax guidance and strategic planning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review complex individual income tax returns, including multi-state filings
Prepare and review gift, trust, partnership, corporate, and private foundation tax returns
Develop quarterly tax projections, estimated tax calculations, and extension filings
Assist high-net-worth clients with a variety of financial matters, including mortgage applications, insurance-related requests, required minimum distribution (RMD) analysis, and cash flow projections
Respond to tax notices and support clients through tax audits and examinations
Conduct tax research and provide recommendations regarding complex tax issues
Prepare detailed and organized workpapers that support tax filings and planning strategies
Manage foreign tax reporting and compliance requirements
Participate in special projects, including forensic analyses related to matrimonial and other financial matters
Collaborate with financial advisors, investment professionals, attorneys, and other members of clients' advisory teams
Build and maintain trusted client relationships through exceptional service and responsiveness
Qualifications
CPA designation required
Minimum of seven years of experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for high-net-worth individuals
Strong experience with complex individual, trust, gift, partnership, corporate, and private foundation taxation
Advanced technical tax knowledge and planning expertise
Proficiency with CCH Axcess Tax, Income Tax Planner, tax research platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proven commitment to client service excellence and attention to detail
