Our client, a payroll processing company, is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with expertise in financial leadership, payroll operations, cash management, regulatory compliance, and scalable growth.

The ideal candidate must have a strong track record of leading finance within payroll, fintech, payments, financial services, or another transaction-intensive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company’s financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning, translating operating performance into clear recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Strengthen cash flow and treasury management across corporate and payroll-related funds, ensuring appropriate liquidity, controls, reconciliations, and risk oversight.
  • Establish financial controls and reporting processes that support accurate, timely financial statements and scalable growth.
  • Drive profitability through margin analysis, pricing insights, expense management, unit economics, and financial modeling across products, clients, and business segments.
  • Oversee accounting, tax, audit, treasury, banking relationships, and financial compliance while maintaining strong internal controls and audit readiness.
  • Evaluate financial and operational risks specific to payroll processing, tax funding, client funds, payments, banking relationships, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing finance organization with the systems, talent, accountability, and processes required to support continued company growth.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, including significant experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, or comparable senior financial executive.
  • Experience within payroll services, fintech, payments, financial services, HCM, SaaS, or another high-volume, transaction-driven business environment.
  • Strong command of financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, treasury, financial modeling, and management reporting.
  • Proven ability to improve profitability using KPI analysis, pricing strategy, margin analysis, cost controls, and operational financial data.
  • Experience selecting, implementing, or optimizing ERP, accounting, FP&A, treasury, and business intelligence systems.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to advise CEOs, owners, boards, lenders, investors, and senior operating leaders.
  • Proven leadership experience building finance teams and establishing disciplined processes in a growing organization.
