Job description
Our client, a public CPA firm, is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Public Accountant with expertise in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and financial support services.The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting tax engagements, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with client accounting services, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting while contributing to the firm's overall client service excellence.Responsibilities:Assist in the preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns while ensuring accuracy and compliance with current tax regulations. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and financial records for multiple client accounts. Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with accounting standards and firm procedures. Assist with bookkeeping, payroll processing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions for clients. Gather, organize, and analyze financial data to support tax planning, audits, and client advisory services. Communicate with clients to request documentation, answer accounting-related inquiries, and provide exceptional service. Stay current on accounting principles, tax regulations, and industry best practices to support client needs and firm growth. Qualifications:2+ years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, tax preparation, or related financial services, preferably within a public accounting or CPA firm environment. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience preparing tax returns and supporting tax compliance activities for individuals and small to mid-sized businesses. Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms, along with strong Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and bookkeeping processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve financial issues efficiently. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines during peak tax and reporting periods. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, partners, and team members while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accuracy.Location: Monsey, NYSalary: $100K
