Overview
Responsible for the nutritional care of residents. Performs nutrition screening on assigned residents in accordance with established standards. Responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the residents served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the resident's needs.
Responsibilities
Assess nutritional needs of residents and develop nutritional plans for residents.
Screen and assess residents for nutritional risk.
Explain the diet and food drug interaction instructions.
Attend meetings with hospital and family members to address resident's nutritional needs.
Document nutritional needs and progress in accordance with established procedures.
Consult with Physician and other healthcare providers regarding dietary needs, progress and offer suggested dietary changes.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
BA with course work approved by the academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Accreditation Council required.
Must pass the national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Completed courses in methods and principles of nutrition counselling.
Experience:
No experience required. Prefer individuals that have completed an internship or have some experience in dietetics.

Being socially perceptive; that is, aware of the reactions of others and understanding those reactions
Good reading comprehension skills
Good coordination skills and the ability to adjust one’s actions in relation to others’ actions

Effective writing, speaking and listening skills
Licenses, Certifications:
Certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) is required.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
