Job description
What You’ll Do
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside our Lead Teachers and supervisory staff to create a positive classroom experience for every child. Your responsibilities will include:
Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate classroom activities and curriculum.
Provide attentive care and support for children's daily needs, including hygiene, meals, learning, and developmental activities.
Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
Promote positive behavior through appropriate guidance, discipline, and classroom management techniques.
Model positive behaviors and effective communication for children and fellow caregivers.
Assist with children's observations, assessments, classroom records, and daily paperwork.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents and families.
Help new children and families transition comfortably into the classroom and Center.
Administer first aid and/or medication as required to meet children's immediate healthcare needs.
Assist with family events, special programs, and Center activities.
Prepare meals provided by parents and supplement with Center food as needed to meet children's daily nutritional needs.
Support and orient new employees to VCDC operations and regulations.
Supervise classroom staff and volunteers in the absence of the Lead Teaching Assistant or Lead Teacher.
Maintain adequate classroom supplies, including cleaning and art supplies.
Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and ongoing professional development.
Stay current with Keystone STARS requirements and complete required professional development hours.
Follow all applicable policies, regulations, and safety procedures.
Support Vincentian's Code of Ethical Conduct and Compliance Program by reporting suspected compliance, fraud, abuse, ethics, or policy violations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll need to meet one of the following education requirements:
Verified Child Development Associate (CDA) and Career and Technology (CTE) graduate, or enrolled in CDA coursework
Enrolled in School-Age Professional Credentials (SAPC)
Enrolled in an OCDEL-approved certificate or credential program
Enrolled in an Early Childhood Education (ECE) program or have 6 ECE credits
