Job description
The Role
You are a procurement leader ready to take ownership of Vertice's most strategic, highest-value client relationships. As a Principal Procurement Manager, you will run strategic sourcing plans and negotiations for customers referred to Vertice by private equity partners.
This is not a role for someone content to manage a queue of routine renewals. You will shape commercial strategy for our customers, negotiate directly with the SaaS vendors that dominate their tech stack, and own the outcomes on their tech stack end to end. You will leverage Vertice's proprietary agentic workflows and AI-powered vendor insights to build sharper negotiation positions and move faster than a traditional in house team ever could.
You will partner directly with C-suite and senior stakeholders, translating deep technology strategy into commercial outcomes, while building out and mentoring a team around you to raise the bar on delivery.
Responsibilities
Strategic Account Ownership: You will be accountable for Vertice's service delivery into a portfolio of our most strategic accounts, including some of our highest-value private equity relationships.
Executive Partnership: Work directly with C-suite and senior stakeholders to build a deep understanding of their requirements and technology strategy.
Enterprise Sourcing Strategy: Implement enterprise sourcing strategies that balance innovation with best practice, and own vendor relationships across your customers’ largest spend areas.
AI-Powered Negotiation: Use Vertice's proprietary agentic workflows and AI-driven vendor insights to sharpen your negotiation, benchmark pricing faster, and walk into every deal with a stronger hand.
Pod Leadership: Mentor junior members of your team, shaping outcomes and setting the standard for how the team operates.
Requirements
Procurement Expertise: You have substantial experience in indirect procurement, strategic sourcing, or procurement consulting, and you know how to manage stakeholder expectations while holding everyone to the timeline. Technology and SaaS category management experience is highly preferred.
Strategic Partner: You can provide strategic insight to customers on their procurement strategies, understanding their challenges and opportunities. You’re a creative thinker who isn't afraid to challenge customers and suppliers to reach the best outcome.
Compelling Communicator: You are clear, confident, and persuasive, in writing, in conversation, and in front of C-suite stakeholders.
AI-Curious: You actively experiment with the latest AI tools in your own workflow, and want to work at a company where AI is core to how procurement gets done, not a slide in a pitch deck.
