Job description
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and Azure Managed Instance databases.
Perform SQL Server/database installations, upgrades, migrations, and configuration.
Collaborate with infrastructure teams on regular database and server patching.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
Implement and maintain database security and compliance standards.
Perform SQL performance tuning and query optimization.
Develop and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
Support application development teams with database requirements and solutions.
Implement and maintain High Availability / Always On solutions.
Develop database automation using scripting and programming languages.
Maintain database procedures, standards, best practices, and technical documentation.
Provide technical direction and guidance to junior team members.
Perform additional database administration duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
8+ years of experience installing, maintaining, administering, and supporting database technologies, operating systems, and related infrastructure.
Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server, Azure, and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
Strong knowledge of Azure Storage Accounts and Azure security fundamentals.
Extensive experience with SQL Server Always On / High Availability.
Strong SQL knowledge, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Experience with database backup, recovery, migration, installation, and upgrades.
Experience with shell scripting and database automation.
Knowledge of Python is preferred.
Experience supporting UNIX, Linux, and Windows environments.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to design and engineer database solutions and technical standards.
Ability to provide advanced technical guidance to less senior staff.
