The Opportunity
As an e-Filing Specialist, you will be responsible for electronically filing documents in state and federal courts. In this position, you will be part of a regional and national docketing team that provides support to the firm’s domestic offices.
The Day-To-Day
On any given day, you will be working with your colleagues on a variety of requests and projects. You will:
Know applicable court rules on how to electronically file documents in federal court using the CM/ECF system. When needed, file documents electronically after hours.
Be able to file documents in State and appellate courts.
Have subject matter expertise on the requirements to e-File documents in federal and state courts across the country.
Act as a liaison between the courts and the firm’s attorneys on procedural and technical matters.
Respond to procedural inquiries from attorneys.
Know how to research court case information to maintain an accurate record.
Assist with special projects as assigned by the regional coordinator and the Director and Managing Attorney, Docket.
Serve as a back-up for overflow docketing requests, when not e-Filing.
You Have
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
5-7 years of experience at a large law firm in a litigation support role
Experience and subject matter expertise on the filing requirements for federal and state courts
Proficiency with e-Filing documents in state and federal courts
Ability to research and apply jurisdiction-specific rules and procedures
Attention to detail and accuracy under deadlines
Time management and ability to multitask
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability to interpret filing rules and respond to procedural changes
Proficiency with common e-filing platforms (e.g., CM/ECF for federal courts, state Court e-Filing platforms)
The ability to interpret and analyze information
Computer proficient with advanced skills in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook) required
