Position Summary
The Residential Facility Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position performs routine housekeeping duties throughout resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and other assigned areas while following facility policies, infection-control procedures, and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clean and disinfect resident bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways, kitchens, dining areas, lounges, offices, and other common areas.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors, furniture, fixtures, and frequently touched surfaces.
Clean toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors, and other bathroom fixtures.
Empty trash containers and properly dispose of waste according to facility procedures.
Change bed linens and make beds as assigned.
Collect, wash, dry, fold, and distribute laundry when required.
Restock paper products, soap, cleaning supplies, and other housekeeping materials.
Follow infection-control and sanitation procedures to help prevent the spread of illness.
Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to manufacturer and facility instructions.
Report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or unsanitary conditions to a supervisor.
Respect residents' privacy, personal belongings, dignity, and confidentiality.
Maintain professional and courteous interactions with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
Complete assigned cleaning schedules and document completed duties when required.
Follow OSHA, health and safety, and facility-specific policies and procedures.
Perform other housekeeping duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous housekeeping, janitorial, residential, healthcare, or facility-cleaning experience preferred.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Knowledge of basic cleaning, sanitation, and infection-control practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Dependable, punctual, and attentive to detail.
Ability to communicate respectfully with residents and staff.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies, laundry, trash, and other materials as required by the facility.
Ability to safely operate standard housekeeping equipment and use cleaning products.
