Job description
Temple Isaiah Preschool is seeking an Assistant Afternoon Preschool Teacher to join our team of dedicated, nurturing, and creative educators. This position will manage and run our Late Stay program. The schedule for this position is Mondays through Fridays from 2–5pm, from September 2026 through early June 2027. Our Howard County preschool, located just outside Columbia, MD, is play-based, welcoming, and innovative. Candidates should enjoy working with children, be flexible and enthusiastic, and enjoy working as a team. Experience and coursework in early childhood education is a bonus. No knowledge of Judaism is required. Responsibilities: • Support children aged 2–5 at the end of their day • Supervise children during an afternoon rest period • Guide children through centers or outdoor play on our playground • Prepare afternoon snack • Change diapers, pull-ups, or children’s clothing, as needed • Interact with children to support play, exploration, and learning • Meet the individual needs of the children • Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and staff Qualifications: • Prior Early Childhood experience ideal • Willingness to complete the MSDE required training certificates (Basic Health & Safety, Aide Orientation course, etc.) • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills • Medical evaluation and recent background check, as required by MSDE • Full vaccination against Covid-19 required, including boosters The position begins September 3, 2026, and runs until June 3, 2027. The hours would be 2–5pm, Monday through Friday. Opportunities for additional hours may be available. This position is salaried and paid at a rate of $16-18/hour, commensurate with experience. This Assistant Afternoon Teacher is welcome to attend staff trainings, professional development sessions, conferences, and school-wide events that may occur outside of teaching hours, but it is not a requirement for this position.
