Job description

About the job
Background
We're looking for a Business Operations Manager to join our GTM Operations team at Pepper, where we power the food supply chain through technology. This is a high-leverage generalist role with an analytics core: you'll be staffed against the company's most pressing operational problems, with your first mandate being customer-facing analytics - the dashboards, reporting products, and data deliverables that shape how distributors see and extract value from Pepper.

You'll combine strong analytical horsepower with product sense and customer empathy. One quarter you might be building the reporting layer our customers' sales reps live in every day; the next, you might be diagnosing a funnel problem, standing up an internal tool, or scoping a new operational process. You'll be expected to own problems end to end, from ambiguous ask to shipped deliverables, with minimal hand-holding.

🚀 Key Responsibilities
Customer-Facing Analytics Ownership: Own the analytics deliverables our customers touch - recurring performance dashboards, quarterly business reviews, and custom reporting for strategic accounts. You'll inherit and level up an active book of customer analytics work from day one.

Reporting Product Development: Drive the roadmap for our reporting products (e.g., ReportHub for distributor sales reps and operators) - scoping requirements with customers and internal stakeholders, writing specs, partnering with engineering, and shipping iterations that customers actually use.

Ad-Hoc Analysis at Speed: Field high-priority analytical requests from customers, CS, and leadership. Turn vague questions into structured analyses with clear recommendations, fast.

Data Quality & Pipeline Hygiene: Proactively identify gaps in the data feeding customer deliverables - catch issues before customers do, and drive fixes upstream rather than patching downstream.

Cross-Functional Operations: Plug into broader BizOps and GTM workstreams as priorities shift - process design, internal tooling, strategic analysis, and special projects for leadership.

🔍 What We're Looking For
You're analytical: Strong SQL is table stakes. You're fluent in translating messy operational data into clean, decision-ready analysis, and comfortable in BI tools and spreadsheets alike.

You're proactive: You don't wait for direction. You see a gap - in a dashboard, a process, a dataset - and close it. You raise the bar on what "good" looks like rather than meeting the baseline.

You're customer-facing: You can sit across from a distributor CEO or sales manager, understand their business, and communicate insights in their language - margins, cases, drops, reps - not analyst-speak.

You're a builder: You've shipped reporting products, dashboards, or internal tools, not just one-off analyses. Bonus if you've used AI tools to accelerate build cycles.

You're versatile: You're energized (not annoyed) by shifting priorities. You can go from customer QBR prep to product spec to leadership analysis in the same week.

You're experienced: 3+ years in business operations, analytics, consulting, or a similar role at a high-growth B2B company. Vertical SaaS or supply chain exposure is a plus.

🧰 Tools & Tech You'll Use
Data Layer: SQL, Snowflake, Redash
AI & LLMs: Claude, custom AI-assisted analytics workflows
CRM & Customer Stack: HubSpot, Gong, Vitally
Product & Delivery: ReportHub, internal reporting infrastructure
