Job description
The Engineer II, IT Infrastructure Support serves as a foundational member of the IT operations team, providing day-to-day systems administration and technical support across the organization's infrastructure. This role is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, monitoring, and support of servers, networks, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
The ideal candidate possesses a solid foundational understanding of Windows Server, Linux, networking fundamentals, Microsoft 365 administration, and cloud platforms, coupled with a strong eagerness to learn and grow. They demonstrate a proactive attitude toward problem-solving, maintain attention to detail, and collaborate effectively with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.
In addition to operational support responsibilities, this role participates in project-based work through sprint planning and backlog initiatives, contributing to infrastructure maintenance, network operations, automation efforts, platform improvements, and continuous service enhancements under the guidance of senior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Network Support
Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server environments
Monitor system/network health and respond to alerts
Support server provisioning, patching, backup, and disaster recovery
Troubleshoot networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, wireless)
Assist with cloud networking (VPC, subnets, route tables, gateways)
Support hybrid connectivity between on-prem and cloud environments
Systems Administration
Windows Server (2019+), Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)
Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams)
Virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch)
Manage user provisioning, access requests, and endpoint security
Customer Service & Documentation
Provide professional, responsive support to internal users
Maintain thorough ticket documentation and knowledge base articles
Document system configurations, network diagrams, and change records
Project & Continuous Improvement
Participate in Agile sprint planning and backlog activities
Contribute to automation and process improvement efforts
Required Qualifications:
2+ years in systems administration, networking, or related role
Knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, VLANs, firewalls)
Foundational cloud systems and networking knowledge
Familiarity with Microsoft 365
Strong communication, attention to detail, and customer service mindset
Physical requirement: Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS, CompTIA Network+/Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft certifications
Experience with IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation), scripting (PowerShell/Bash/Python)
Familiarity with virtualization, backup solutions, and ITIL frameworks
Experience in regulated financial services environments
Experience with supporting Connect Direct or MQ systems
