Job description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Installs, inspects, calibrates, tests, maintains, and repairs control systems, and associated equipment in accordance with applicable specifications, tolerances, procedures, and safety requirements.
· Performs loop checks and functional testing to verify proper operation and communication between field devices, control systems, and operator interfaces; identifies and corrects deficiencies.
· Monitors, evaluates, and troubleshoots process control systems, PLC programming, HMIs, instrumentation, communication infrastructure, and related production and safety equipment.
· Reviews and interprets technical documentation, including P&IDs[ME2] , schematics, loop drawings, data sheets, calibration records, procedures, and mechanical and electrical drawings.
· Supports system start-ups and commissioning activities by verifying system readiness, coordinating with involved personnel, and identifying and resolving control-system issues.
· Assesses system condition and performance through documentation review, inspection, testing, and analysis; performs or coordinates required maintenance and repairs.
· Maintains and supports reliable control and data-system infrastructure to ensure operational information is consistently available to applicable teams.
· Provides operational teams with accurate system data and technical support to enable informed, fact-based decisions.
· Participates in planning and coordinating control-system projects, including required personnel, materials, documentation, and other resources.
· Coordinates with employees, contractors, and other personnel performing control-system work by providing technical assistance, sharing job-related information, and helping align work with applicable procedures and requirements..
· Maintains accurate and complete calibration records, loop checks, maintenance records, standards, procedures, and other required documentation.
· Reviews and updates control-system standards, drawings, and technical documentation to reflect current and as-built conditions.
· Performs work in compliance with applicable company policies, site procedures, codes, standards, regulations, cybersecurity requirements, and change-management/Management of Change (MOC) processes.
· Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Required
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Experience with PLC programming, including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, or FlexLogix, or comparable industrial control platforms.
· Experience installing, inspecting, calibrating, testing, maintaining, or troubleshooting industrial instrumentation or control-system equipment.
· Experience documenting technical work, which may include maintenance records, calibration records, MOCs, SOPs, loop checks, redlined drawings, or as-built documentation.
Desired
· HMI development experience.
· Experience with AVEVA System Platform, InTouch, or OMI[ME1] .
· Instrumentation installation, calibration, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required
· Ability to travel regularly to field and operational sites and perform work safely in office, field, and outdoor environments.
· Valid California driver’s license with a driving record deemed acceptable by the company’s auto insurance carrier is required due to regular travel to field and operational sites.
· Ability to follow applicable safety procedures, cybersecurity requirements, change-management processes, and site-specific work requirements.
· Ability to read and understand schematics, P&IDs, and pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment engineering drawings.
· Working knowledge of electrical principles and safe work practices applicable to instrumentation, control systems, field devices, and related equipment.
· Working knowledge of industrial networking concepts applicable to SCADA systems, PLCs, HMIs, communication infrastructure, and field-device connectivity.
· Ability to follow established processes and understand how those processes affect the overall business.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Ability to collaborate with employees, contractors, and other personnel to share job-related information, provide technical assistance, and support work performed in accordance with applicable procedures and requirements.
