Job description
General Function:
V2X is seeking a Lead Field Technician to support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Perimeter Intrusion and Detection System (PIDS) deployed at the metro NY airports. The PIDS Lead Field Technician works as part of a New York/New Jersey based System Engineering and Maintenance team that designs, builds, integrates, tests, maintains, and supports this 24 * 7 operational surveillance system.
This position will be primarily responsible for supporting the Site Lead & Ops Lead with coordination and execution of the weekly maintenance and installation schedules and field subcontractor oversight. The selected candidate should be self-starting and inquisitive with good written and verbal communication skills and thrive in the challenges of working in an operational environment.

Specific Duties:
Execute the weekly program maintenance and project schedules & priorities provided by the Site Lead, Ops Lead or assigned Project Lead.
Perform a wide variety of tasks in support of ongoing field systems through preventative & corrective maintenance and sensor installations and also support ad-hoc request (site walk as required, inspect quality of other technician work, train and give guidance as required etc.)
Learn all equipment, their uses & field troubleshooting by way of researching existing O&M manuals and OJT in the field with site/ops leads and engineers
Generate daily reports of field activities by V2X technician
Provide oversight of subcontractors for ongoing PIDS installations as part of larger PANYJ construction projects
Coordinate with site lead, ops lead, field technicians, supply chain and engineering to execute project & maintenance schedule
Create checklists and assist with creation of schedules, as required
Assess and recommend improvement to the existing processes & procedures
Participate in a rotation of 24 * 7 on-call hotline support
Qualifications
Experience:
A minimum of 8 years professional experience including 4 years supporting operational airport security systems.
Experience leading field activities for field technicians
Experience managing subcontractors on small or large projects
Experience with testing equipment (multimeter, battery tester, etc.)
Candidate must be able to obtain a SIDA badge from the customer (PANYNJ) by completing a Federal background check and agree to enroll in FBI’s Rap Back program.
Experience with Windows/Microsoft products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Physical Activities:
Climbing up and down stairs/ladders, as required.
Driving program vehicles (SUV primarily)
Driving and operating bucket trucks for maintenance of field equipment
Education:
A two-year technical degree, an accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field.
