Job description
Senior Interior Designer / Project Manager – Commercial Interiors | Westchester, NY
About the Role: A commercial interiors firm is looking for a Senior Interior Designer / Project Manager who can both design and execute — someone technically strong enough to take projects independently from programming and space planning through construction documentation, FF&E, signage, and closeout. This role leans heavily toward project execution, coordination, and management rather than purely conceptual design, ideal for someone comfortable owning multiple fast-moving tenant improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design, Planning & Documentation
- Develop programming, test fits, space plans, and design solutions for commercial interior projects
- Produce quick-turn preliminary pricing sets for early budgeting and feasibility
- Produce complete construction drawing sets, including finish plans, RCPs, elevations, millwork details, and specifications
- Coordinate architectural, MEP, and electrical drawings with the interior design scope
Project Management & Construction Coordination
- Manage multiple tenant improvement projects from inception through completion
- Own project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and priorities
- Coordinate clients, architects, engineers, GCs, and vendors throughout all phases
- Review pricing and GC bids, identifying budget concerns and value engineering opportunities
- Respond to RFIs and resolve field conditions
- Drive decisions and keep projects moving through construction, punch list, and closeout with minimal oversight
FF&E, Signage & Brand Coordination
- Develop and coordinate furniture plans, selections, and specifications
- Coordinate signage, environmental graphics, artwork, and décor from design intent through installation
- Review vendor drawings, proofs, and samples for design consistency
- Track lead times, fabrication, and installation against the construction schedule
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in commercial interior design or a related field, with significant tenant improvement experience
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture
- NCIDQ certification preferred
- Strong AutoCAD proficiency required
- Adobe Creative Suite and/or Revit proficiency a plus
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local site visits
