Job description

Key Responsibilities

Resources Management:

Responsible for the overall management of national and office-specific electronic resources
Evaluates potential electronic resources aligning with practice needs, liaises with vendors, coordinates demos and trials, and solicits feedback
Reviews existing resources based on functionality, continued relevance, usage data, return-on-investment analysis, and recommendations from users and practice group leaders
Collaborates with the Library and Information Services Manager and other stakeholders to manage negotiations for renewals and new subscriptions
Ensures compliance with contract terms and licensing conditions
Works closely with vendors on renewals, training, platform changes, and resource testing
Oversees library contracts to streamline renewals and maintains accurate records of subscription details, licensing terms, and costs
Reference Services:

Provides high-quality, timely, and complex legal and business research services to lawyers, law students, and business services professionals
Creates and manages customized timely current awareness alerts for lawyers and business support professionals
Proactively monitors technology changes particularly the use of generative AI in legal and business research platforms and collaborates with stakeholders on implementation
Leverages AI technology in the day-today work processes
Coordinates and executes in-depth research projects as needs arise
Delivers tailored research skills and library resources training to lawyers, law students, and business professionals and develops and maintains related training materials
Promotes the Library’s resources and services through targeted communication, one-on-one outreach, and attendance at practice group meetings
Job Specifications

Knowledge and Experience:

MLS, MISt, MLIS or equivalent degree and experience
At least 2 years law firm experience
Expertise using key legal and business resources, including Lexis+, Westlaw Advantage, Practical Law, Avantis, and Capital IQ
Deep knowledge of the legislative process, with extensive experience conducting legislative research
Skills and Abilities:

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Keen interest in emerging technologies, including AI-enabled legal and business research tools
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and produce a high volume of work in a busy, professional, business environment
Strong attention to detail and expertise in synthesizing complex information into practical research results
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment and with other professionals
Commitment to providing professional, responsive, and high-quality client service to firm members
Salary Range (Toronto Only):

$80,000 - $100,000 annually. The posted salary range reflects the expected compensation for this role. Final offers are determined based on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
