GPI is seeking a talented and motivated Fire Protection Engineer to join our growing team in Scranton, Pennsylvania. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about life safety, code compliance, and innovative design solutions that protect people, property, and communities.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work on a variety of commercial, institutional, industrial, transportation, and public-sector projects, providing fire protection engineering expertise from concept through construction. What You'll Do
Design fire protection and life safety systems for a diverse range of projects.
Develop engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
Perform fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, and life safety system analyses and designs.
Review projects for compliance with NFPA standards, International Building Code (IBC), International Fire Code (IFC), and applicable local regulations.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, owners, and contractors throughout all phases of project development.
Conduct site visits, field investigations, and system assessments.
Assist with construction administration activities, including reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and responding to contractor questions.
Support project management efforts, including scope development, scheduling, and client communication.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience in fire protection engineering, life safety design, or a closely related field.
Working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
Experience with hydraulic calculations and fire modeling software.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or related design platforms.
Consulting engineering experience.

Requirements
Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'
Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
