Job description
Duties
Plans, directs, and conducts hydrographic and topographic surveys to support a wide range of navigation, engineering, environmental, and planning project.
Manages the operations of a mobile field survey party, which includes scheduling work, distributing tasks, maintaining records, and handling logistical and administrative functions to ensure the party operates efficiently.
Conducts various types of field surveys, such as small boat hydrographic surveys, topographic surveys, GPS geodetic surveys, and high-order tidal surveys, using specialized equipment like DGPS receivers, echo sounders, and total stations.
Processes and reviews survey data in the field to ensure completeness and resolve anomalies, maintains proficiency with a wide range of computer software, and trains other crew members on survey operations.

Conditions of employment
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Required to obtain and maintain a valid, State-issued Motor Vehicle Driver's License.
Required to obtain and maintain a USACE Motorboat Operator License.
Required to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR Certifications.
Required to travel away from the worksite 80% of the time.
Required to pass a pre-employment physical.
Required to wear a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) at all times while working on open floating plant decks.
