Swim Instructor

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is looking for an upbeat, friendly, and enthusiastic Swim Instructor to join their team! The Swim Instructor is passionate about teaching children, promoting swimming skills, and water safety. The Aquatics Department at The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan serves approximately 1,200 students each week through a wide range of group and private swim lessons, including parent-and-child, toddler, after-school, teen/tween, adult, pre-competition, adaptive, and private lessons.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Commitment to regular schedule, on time
• Ability to multitask and stay calm in a busy environment
• Teach proper swimming strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly)
• Enforce water safety rules and supervise swimmers
• Design clear lesson plans tailored to different ages and skill levels
• Evaluate student progress and provide feedback
• Empathy and patience with swimmers

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Current CPR certification required
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred
• Previous swim instruction experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to create a positive, welcoming, and safe learning environment
• Experience working with children of varying ages and abilities
• Strong personal swimming and stroke knowledge

Compensation

• This role offers a rate of $25-$35 per hour, commensurate with experience.
