About the Opportunity
Sales Assistant to Global Head of Curatorial Projects | $60k paid hourly, overtime eligible
David Zwirner Inc. seeks a full-time Sales Assistant to support our Global Head of Curatorial Projects. The ideal candidate will have a BA or BSc, and at least two years related experience or the equivalent.
Superior writing skills, the ability to time manage and meet deadlines, and a thorough working knowledge of contemporary art are required. This position will involve significant contact with artists and long time clients and other art industry professionals, therefore discretion and poise are essential.
What you’ll do:
Respond to all artists and artist studio needs, communicating with external contacts, etc.
Monitor all artists’ solo/group exhibitions, both domestic and international, manage checklists and loans.
Liaise with other gallery staff regarding all aspects of inventory & exhibition management: production, shipping, framing, photography, research, etc.
Assist the Director in sending out and monitoring offers, work with the marketing department to obtain images, provenance, press packs, and all other relevant documentation for offers.
Manage Director’s sales, follow up on invoices, and prepare insurance appraisals.
Manage Director’s secondary market consignments, prepare consignment and contract agreements; liaise with clients on cataloging and research materials, and create presentations for client offers and significant works.
Prepare insurance appraisals and valuations for incoming consignments.
Provide sales support as needed (viewings, offers, previews).
Create and manage client lists for exhibition previews/dinners, and support the Director during openings.
Organize the Director's schedule, plan and book travel, keep track of meetings, and create expense reports.
Responsible for organizing the Director’s inbox and staying on top of all communication requests.
What we would like you to have:
2-3 years in an assistant or administrative support role at a gallery.
Experience supporting senior leadership with calendar management and travel itinerary.
Detail-oriented workflow with experience in managing upwards.
Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and anticipate needs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-departmentally.
Passion for and knowledge of contemporary art.
