Direct Support Professional Specialist/CI at Gesher Human Services

Gesher Human Services — a bridge to hope and opportunity for people at work, at home, and in the community — seeks a Direct Support Professional Specialist for its Community Inclusion department. The role blends direct participant support with the administrative and coordination work that keeps Community Inclusion programs running: schedules, documentation, compliance tracking, and communication with families, guardians, and external partners. Responsibilities: • Plan, implement, and supervise activities that promote a healthy, active, socially integrated lifestyle for people with disabilities in employment, volunteer, recreation, and facility settings • Assist participants with personal care, hygiene, and grooming, including physical assistance with transferring and mobility • Provide support and training based on goals in service plans and maintain participant safety • Transport participants using an agency van or your own vehicle • Develop and distribute staff and participant schedules; monitor attendance and staff documentation • Communicate with external agencies, families, guardians, and internal departments to obtain documents needed for compliance and billing • Maintain site info sheets, equipment, and program supply inventory Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalency required; two years of college preferred • 21+ years of age; 3–4 years of related experience serving individuals with disabilities preferred • Criminal background must meet funding source requirements • Reliable transportation and a valid Michigan driver's license, with a driving record approved by the agency's insurance carrier • Complete all assigned trainings including CPR, First Aid, and Recipient Rights • Strong interpersonal and composition skills; basic computer skills; ASL fluency a plus This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
