Job description

Senior Product Manager, Product Strategy

Newark, NJ | Onsite | Full-Time
$250,000
Monday–Thursday: 8AM–5PM | Friday: 8AM–1PM

Why This Role Exists

We are seeking a senior product leader to help determine where the product portfolio should go next and turn market opportunities into successful physical products.

This role owns the strategy and lifecycle of assigned product categories—from identifying market gaps and building the business case through product development, commercialization, launch, and ongoing performance.

You will work at the intersection of customer demand, product strategy, manufacturing, sourcing, pricing, and go-to-market execution.

The right person understands both sides of product leadership: determining what the market needs and ensuring the organization can successfully bring it to market.

What You Will Own

Product & Category Strategy

  • Lead market analysis to identify product gaps, customer needs, trends, and growth opportunities.
  • Define product strategies and business cases that balance customer demand, pricing, profitability, and manufacturability.
  • Own and maintain product roadmaps aligned with business priorities and market opportunities.
  • Evaluate product performance and lifecycle health and recommend changes, extensions, improvements, or rationalization.

New Product Development & Commercialization

  • Lead product initiatives from concept through launch.
  • Translate market opportunities into clear product requirements and development priorities.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Sales, Marketing, Sourcing, Operations, and Manufacturing.
  • Ensure new products are commercially compelling, operationally feasible, and positioned for successful adoption.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing on positioning, go-to-market planning, launch readiness, and product adoption.

Market & Customer Intelligence

  • Stay close to customers, sales teams, market activity, and competitive developments.
  • Identify emerging opportunities before they become obvious.
  • Translate customer and market feedback into actionable product decisions.
  • Monitor competitive products, pricing, positioning, and category developments.

Product Performance

  • Monitor product and category performance after launch.
  • Identify opportunities to improve adoption, positioning, profitability, or overall lifecycle performance.
  • Use market feedback and business results to continuously refine product strategy.

What Success Looks Like

  • Strong new products are brought from market opportunity through successful launch.
  • Product roadmaps are tied to real customer demand and business priorities.
  • Categories grow in revenue, profitability, and market relevance.
  • Product decisions balance customer appeal with cost, pricing, sourcing, inventory, and manufacturability.
  • Sales and Marketing have clear positioning and go-to-market plans.
  • Cross-functional teams have clear priorities and move product initiatives forward efficiently.
  • Underperforming or outdated products are identified and addressed before they become larger portfolio problems.

What You Need

  • 8+ years of experience in product management, product development, category management, merchandising, or product marketing within a manufacturing or physical-product environment.
  • Proven experience leading physical-product initiatives from concept through commercialization and launch.
  • Strong experience in market research, competitive analysis, product prioritization, and roadmap management.
  • Experience influencing product, assortment, category, or portfolio decisions.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Sales and Marketing on positioning and go-to-market execution.
  • Experience partnering with Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Operations throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ability to balance customer needs, pricing, margin, manufacturability, operational realities, and broader business objectives.
  • Strong ownership mentality and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Relevant Industry Backgrounds

Experience in cabinetry, kitchen and bath, interiors, furniture, flooring, tile, surfaces, home furnishings, decorative products, building materials, or adjacent physical-product categories is preferred.

Exact industry experience is less important than demonstrated success identifying market opportunities, making strong product decisions, and successfully bringing physical products to market.

Why This Opportunity

Most product roles focus primarily on executing an established roadmap.

This position provides meaningful influence over what gets developed, where the portfolio should grow, how products are positioned, and how opportunities move from market insight to commercial reality.

You will have direct exposure to multiple areas of the business and meaningful ownership over decisions that impact product growth, profitability, and long-term market position.
