Job description
Position Summary:
The USY Community Advisor – Colorado plays a vital role in fostering vibrant and welcoming communities for Jewish middle and high school youth and teens, empowering them to connect, learn and grow in their Jewish identity. In collaboration with congregations and other community organizations, the Community Advisor supports teens and youth in creating compelling, innovative programs and events that engage youth both within and outside of the synagogue walls and connects the teens and youth to larger programs across the USY area
Programming and Collaboration
Oversee the overall operations of the Colorado USY community (includes areas in and around Denver, CO and Boulder, CO), ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for teens and youth.
Plan and recruit for Colorado programs and conventions.
Help recruit and chaperone Colorado teens to broader Midbar (CO, AZ, NV, UT) area and International USY experiences.
Facilitate connection, communication and collaboration among teens in the community to foster a sense of belonging and shared purpose.
Support teens in developing and implementing engaging programs and events that align with USY’s mission and address the interests of teens in the community.
Build strong relationships with USY teens and youth as well as chapter advisors, synagogue leaders and parents.
Work with local synagogues, youth boards, and professionals to strengthen their youth programs and the Colorado USY Community.
Collaborate with other Jewish organizations in the area to maximize engagement opportunities.
Work with the Colorado USY President’s Council and synagogue professionals to plan and execute Colorado USY conventions and/or events.
Help Synagogues arrange and lead multi-chapter, citywide events on behalf of the Colorado USY Community.
Support Colorado USY Community communications (newsletters, social media, website).
Represent USY, USCJ, and Conservative Movement in the community.
Collaborate with USY International staff and partners to implement international initiatives on a local level that connect teens to international opportunities.
Evaluate the impact of programs and initiatives and adjust to increase effectiveness.
Leadership Development
Work directly with teen leaders to expand engagement through USY programs.
Support teen leaders in implementing community-wide programs and initiatives.
Work with the Midbar Community Advisory Council and any Colorado subcommittee to support teen programming.
Work with and help develop the synagogue youth professionals in the area.
Stay current on trends and issues impacting Jewish teens and integrate them into leadership development opportunities.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Jewish Education, Jewish Studies or similar field preferred
2 to 5 years or more relevant work experience
Passion for USY’s mission and commitment to empowering Jewish teens
Significant knowledge of youth development, teen issues and emerging trends, teen engagement and experiential Jewish education
Experience in immersive Jewish education
Strong understanding of Jewish youth culture and experience
Knowledge of Jewish traditions; demonstrated commitment to Conservative Judaism living and/or interest in learning
Demonstrated people-management and coaching, including conflict management skills
Excellent relationship-building, leadership and facilitation skills
Excellent communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience with budget planning and tracking
Knowledge of how to successfully engage teens on social media platforms preferred
Proficient in Google Workspace; knowledge of CRMs and other customer platforms preferred; ability to learn online systems and programs quickly; and proficient with video conferencing technologies
