Job description
Responsibilities
Responsibilities as Vice Dean include, but are not limited to:
In collaboration with the Dean, serves as the primary, on-site authority for implementing established academic policies and procedures and overseeing daily operations at the Great Falls campus
Supports full-time faculty with intellectual life, research, and teaching needs/development
Oversees adjunct faculty
Partners closely with all student services offices (admissions, career services, academic excellence and bar success, student services) to manage student academic progress from admissions to graduation
Meets with and creates outreach opportunities with local bar associations, local community leaders, etc.
Collaborates with deans and faculty from other Touro University programs sharing the Great Falls, Montana campus to create opportunities for innovative interdisciplinary programming
Other duties as assigned by the Dean
Responsibilities as faculty member include, but are not limited to:
Prepare and teach graduate-level law student courses in a physical classroom and/or a virtual classroom as assigned and scheduled by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Prepare course materials such as syllabi, assessments, final examinations, assignments, and handouts
Timely grade student assessments, exams, assignments, etc. and provide meaningful feedback to students
Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students
Meet regularly with assigned student advisees
Maintain accurate student records
Maintain a regular physical presence at the Montana Law Center campus
Stay current in and continually strive to improve teaching skills and expertise in the subjects that they teach
Stay informed of changes in the law and remain current in recent statutory changes and caselaw developments
Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
Engage in legal research and produce innovative legal scholarship
Engage in service to legal education and to the wider community
Engage in the intellectual life of the Law Center
Participate on faculty and University committees
Attend faculty meetings and Law Center and student events
Qualifications
Education/Experience
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school required
Minimum of 5 years' law school administrative experience
Preference for both legal practice and teaching experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Proven administrative leadership
Ability to multi-task and prioritize
Ability to make decisions and solve problems
Excellent interpersonal skills in communications with supervisors, peers, subordinates, and students
Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate with others
Travel
As needed.
Working Conditions
Sitting at a desk with a computer and standing to teach classes for long periods of time.
Maximum Salary
USD $225,000.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
USD $180,000.00/Yr.
