Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under general supervision to assign work to, instruct, train, check the work of, work with and coordinate the work of employees engaged in installing, removing, dismantling, maintaining, altering and wiring electrical equipment; and to perform related work as assigned.

Primary Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
To assign work to, instruct and train, check the work of work with and coordinate the work of a crew of employees (numbering from two to five, including himself) engaged in installing, inspecting, dismantling, repairing and maintaining electrical and associated equipment at generating stations, substations, distribution centers, electric service stations and network vaults.
To make necessary arrangements and to perform switching operations to take equipment out of service; to check with approved devices, apply. safety Jocks and/or hold cards, see that adequate barricades are erected, and demonstrate to others that equipment is safe to work upon, and to return equipment to service after inspecting and checking completed work and checking safety conditions.
To make inspections of tools and equipment, and to recommend their repair or replacement when necessary.
To prepare time and attendance reports; keep specification books, orders, and instructions; order materials and equipment; and record work performed and field conditions.

Job Scope
JOB SCOPE
This is a senior level progression in Substation Construction (SSC). Anyone interested in becoming an Electric Mechanic in SSC should bid on the SSC Helper School posting when available.
INTERNAL BIDDERS NOTE for ALTERNATE POSTINGS: If this is a posting for an alternate in NHG, note that employees do not change job classification or physical locations. Alternates will stay in current job and be available when needed in NHG and report NHG work through eTime to be paid properly during time worked as an alternate. All employees in the T&S Network Highrise Group (NHG) will receive an additive of 1.5% of the maximum hourly rate of pay of the employee's job Classification. This additive will be applied for all compensable hours while in the NHG group. Any eligible Electric Mechanic interested in becoming a NHG Alternate should submit a bid.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education equivalent to graduation from high school.
