Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Assist in the performance of electrical and mechanical work involved in the installation, removal, dismantling, maintenance, alteration and wiring of electrical equipment; and to perform related work as assigned. Satisfactory completion of all required training. Responsible for adherence to all governmental regulations and company policies and procedures. This position is subject to shift work and overtime, including required response to callouts.
Primary Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
To install, inspect, dismantle, repair and maintain electrical and associated equipment at generating stations, substations, distribution centers, electric service stations, and network vaults, locating and correcting trouble, making performance checks and adjustments, and setting up and connecting oil handling equipment.
To wire switchboards, panels, transformers, regulators, and other equipment, and to perform power wiring, cable installation work, and electrical watch service.
To perform layout work for the construction of panels, ducts and other equipment; and to make sketches for the fabrication of parts.
Under the direction of a man of higher grade, to perform switching operations necessary to remove or return equipment to service; and to erect and remove barricades, scaffolds, and platforms.
To perform minor building alteration and repair in connection with electrical installation; and to do welding.
To maintain and repair elevators, heating plants, and other building equipment in assigned locations.
To train, instruct, and assign work to others assigned to assist.

JOB SCOPE
This is a journey (A) level progression in Substation Construction (SSC). Anyone interested in becoming an Electric Mechanic in SSC should bid on the SSC Helper School posting when available.
INTERNAL BIDDERS NOTE for ALTERNATE POSTINGS: If this is a posting for an alternate in NHG, note that employees do not change job classification or physical locations. Alternates will stay in current job and be available when needed in NHG and report NHG work through eTime to be paid properly during time worked as an alternate. All employees in the T&S Network Highrise Group (NHG) will receive an additive of 1.5% of the maximum hourly rate of pay of the employee's job Classification. This additive will be applied for all compensable hours while in the NHG group. Any eligible Electric Mechanic interested in becoming a NHG Alternate should submit a bid.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education equivalent to graduation from high school.
Two years of experience in the department as an Electrical Mechanic B.
If this is a Lateral Posting, ANY ELECTRIC MECHANIC IN SSC INTERESTED IN MOVING ANYWHERE WITHIN THE COMED TERRITORY SHOULD BID ON THIS POSTING! Locations will be circulated with the bid list prior to the lateral call.
