Job description
The Jewish Federation of Greater Charleston seeks a relationship-centered Director of Philanthropy & Community Engagement to help individuals and families deepen their connection to the Federation and the broader Jewish community. Reporting to the CEO, this role manages a portfolio of annual campaign donors, creates meaningful programs and engagement opportunities, cultivates volunteers and lay leaders, and strengthens relationships with community and business partners. Charleston is home to one of America's oldest — and fastest growing — Jewish communities. Responsibilities: • Manage and grow a portfolio of annual campaign donors and prospective supporters • Conduct donor visits, stewardship meetings, and annual solicitations; cultivate sponsorships and corporate partnerships • Develop and manage a year-round calendar of Federation programs, events, and engagement opportunities • Manage key engagement programs including PJ Library and Jewish overnight camp initiatives • Recruit, engage, develop, and steward volunteers and lay leaders, including Women's Philanthropy and young-family engagement • Build collaborative relationships with synagogues, Jewish agencies, schools, businesses, civic organizations, and foundations Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience • Three or more years in fundraising, philanthropy, advancement, community engagement, nonprofit leadership, higher education, hospitality, sales, or marketing; fundraising experience preferred • Demonstrated success building authentic relationships and engaging diverse stakeholders • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong organizational and project management skills • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends • Familiarity with Jewish communal life preferred Salary: $85,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience.
