Job description
The Chief Financial Officer serves as the senior financial leader for the Center for Jewish Philanthropy of Greater Phoenix and affiliated entities, including the Jewish Community Association (Federation), Jewish Community Foundation, Phoenix Jewish News, LLC, and the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus. The CFO is responsible for the integrity of all financial operations across this multi-entity structure, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, payroll, audit, investment reporting, and compliance. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CFO partners with the CEO, Board, Finance Committee, and Foundation Investment Committee. Responsibilities: • Serve as strategic financial advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team • Serve as primary staff liaison to the Finance Committee and Board, preparing and presenting entity-level and consolidated financial reports • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting across all entities • Oversee accounting operations and ensure reporting complies with U.S. GAAP for nonprofits, including fund accounting and functional expense allocation • Manage annual independent audits and tax filings (Form 990 and related returns) for all entities • Own the financial systems environment and serve as principal contact for the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer • Oversee treasury, banking relationships, cash management, and reporting for donor-advised funds and endowments • Provide executive oversight of the technology environment, including outsourced IT, cybersecurity coordination, and vendor management Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including significant nonprofit experience; multi-entity experience strongly preferred • Deep knowledge of nonprofit GAAP, fund accounting, functional expense reporting, and Form 990 requirements • Demonstrated success presenting financial information to boards, committees, and non-financial audiences • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with CRM and financial management platforms Salary: $125,000 to $145,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
