Job description
Jewish Museum Milwaukee (JMM), a program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, is dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of the Jewish people in Wisconsin and celebrating the continuum of Jewish heritage and culture. As the most vibrant Jewish cultural organization in the Midwest, JMM builds bridges between diverse communities with shared histories and explores contemporary issues through the lens of Jewish history, culture, and values. JMM is seeking an experienced Museum Educator to develop and implement educational programming that complements and enhances the visitor experience. Responsibilities: • Develop and coordinate the Museum's educational programming, including tours and workshops • Oversee the Museum's volunteer docent program, including recruiting docents and coordinating training • Interpret exhibit materials to create educational content, and conduct group tours and workshops • Represent the Museum in the Federation's JHub collaborative, co-creating and delivering K-12 educational resources aligned with state standards • Participate in grant writing and fund development; track and report data for funding reports • Oversee the group tour booking and payment process Qualifications: • 3–5 years of museum education experience, including curriculum development • Bachelor's degree in Jewish Studies, History, Education, or comparable field required; master's degree a plus • Strong knowledge of Jewish history, culture, and traditions required; Wisconsin Jewish history preferred • Knowledge of public-school curriculum standards and experience aligning museum exhibits to them a plus • Excellent written, verbal, and public presentation skills, and comfort leading large group tours **Hours:** Primarily onsite, minimum 38 hours per week, present during weekday museum hours and a monthly rotation of Sunday hours. Occasional evening hours required. Benefits: 15 vacation days and 7 personal days annually, plus federal and Jewish holidays (typically 11–17 additional paid days depending on the Hebrew calendar).
