Job description
Duties
As a Legal Administrative Specialist (GS-12) supporting several high-output sections, primarily the Post-Conviction Special Litigation Section, you provide advanced litigation and case-management support for complex matters by organizing and analyzing extensive case materials, managing databases, preparing exhibits, and advising attorneys on automation and case-management systems. You handle daily filings, mailings, PSR requests, habeas intake, and Compassionate Release document processing; manage weekly Amendment 821 tasks and PCSLS reporting; coordinate BOP and Probation record requests; maintain tracking spreadsheets; assign and support §2241, §2255, §1651, and FFOA petitions; obtain records from courts and external districts; correct respondent captions; assist attorneys with TROs; and ensure accurate data entry across systems while maintaining ECF access for designated AUSAs and providing comprehensive administrative and technical support throughout all phases of post-conviction litigation and other criminal cases and investigations.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation

Qualifications
GS-12: To qualify for the GS-12, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level as defined below:
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as experience working in a legal environment providing litigation support services to manage and analyze case materials in support of a trial team. Tracking and analyzing thousands of items of evidence, millions of data elements, and providing technical advice to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and system capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions; trial preparation and presentation; and implementing new and enhanced computer applications needed for cases.
