Overview

A growing custom manufacturing and installation company is seeking a highly driven Director of Operations to serve as the owner’s right hand and oversee the day-to-day operation of the business.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing production, field operations, workflow execution, and team performance while improving efficiency across the organization. The company currently operates a production facility with approximately 20-30 employees, along with multiple field crews servicing customers throughout the region.

The ideal candidate is a strong operator who can bring structure, accountability, and process improvement to a fast-growing business. This person should be equally comfortable leading people, solving operational challenges, and implementing technology to improve visibility and efficiency.

This is an opportunity to step into a key leadership role with significant influence on the future direction and growth of the company.

Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary operational partner to ownership and help oversee all aspects of the business

Manage day-to-day operations across warehouse, production, installation, logistics, and administrative functions

Lead and develop a team of approximately 20-30 employees, including production staff and field personnel

Evaluate and improve workflow efficiency throughout the company’s multi-step order fulfillment and installation process

Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical solutions that improve execution and customer experience

Introduce technology, automation, and operational systems to streamline workflows and increase transparency

Establish and maintain procedures, performance standards, and accountability measures

Coordinate scheduling, production timelines, deliveries, and installation activities

Monitor operational performance and ensure projects are completed accurately and on time

Partner with ownership on strategic initiatives, growth planning, and operational improvements

Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, urgency, and continuous improvement

Qualifications:

7+ years of operations leadership experience in manufacturing, construction, logistics, field services, building products, or a related industry

Proven ability to manage and improve team operational performance

Strong people leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold employees accountable

Experience improving processes and implementing operational systems

Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail

Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment (may need to lift up to 40lbs)

Technology-forward mindset with an interest in improving workflows through systems and automation

Willingness to be fully engaged and hands-on in the operation

Local to the greater Paterson, NJ area strongly preferred

Experience in doors, millwork, construction, manufacturing, or related industries is a plus

Compensation & Benefits:

Expected compensation approximately $150,000 (based on experience)
