Job description

LBAPS seeks a passionate and experienced Special Education Attorney to join our team and serve as a dedicated advocate for our clients. In this role, you will fight to ensure that children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities receive every service, support, and entitlement they are legally mandated to receive.

Key Responsibilities

Advocate on behalf of clients in IEP meetings, due process hearings, and appeals
Review and challenge denials of services, improper placements, and compliance violations
Ensure clients receive all mandated ABA and special education services under IDEA, Section 504, and applicable state law
Draft and review legal correspondence, complaints, and settlement agreements
Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and families to build strong cases
Stay current on special education law, regulations, and relevant case law
Represent LBAPS clients before administrative bodies, school districts, and government agencies
Qualifications

J.D. required; active bar admission in New York required
Experience in special education law, disability rights, or education advocacy preferred
Strong litigation, negotiation, and written advocacy skills preferred
Genuine passion for fighting for children with disabilities and their families
Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with precision and urgency
