Job description
Position Summary:
Supervisor: Executive Director
Congregation Beth El (Beth El), a thriving Conservative synagogue serving more than 750 families and over 100 children in our Early Childhood Center, seeks a highly motivated, organized, and passionate Marketing & Communications Manager. This role is ideal for a proactive team player who excels at juggling projects, solving problems, writing clearly, and elevating meaningful programs and events.
Under the direction of the Executive Director—and in close collaboration with the Senior Rabbi, clergy, and professional staff—the Manager transforms rough concepts into engaging, clear marketing materials that resonate with target audiences. The ideal candidate brings a strong systems approach to manage high-volume daily communications while advancing long-term strategic goals.
There is always something happening at Beth El. Join our team and help us engage our community in meaningful ways!
Position Responsibilities:
Ensure consistency of voice, messaging, visual identity, and branding across all platforms.
Manage and improve the systems, workflows, calendars, and intake processes that keep marketing and communications running effectively.
Develop and manage marketing and communications campaigns across emails, print materials, bimonthly newsletter, website, social media, and building signage.
Draft, build, schedule, and proofread weekly and dedicated email campaigns via Constant Contact.
Follow up with clergy, staff, lay leaders, and volunteers to gather missing details and keep projects on track.
Keep events, emails, website updates, and promotional deadlines organized and moving forward.
Update, manage, and maintain website with accurate information, registration links, images, and messaging.
Coordinate details across multiple projects at once without losing accuracy, tone, or momentum.
Photograph and record video of events for internal and promotional use as well as for social media.
Develop and maintain relationships with outside vendors in all elements of marketing and communications, including designers, photographers, advertising agencies, etc.
Provide staff support, as needed, for Shabbat, for community-wide events, and holidays.
Maintain organized online files of print materials, graphics, images, and videos.
Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and Jewish media outlets.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a marketing or communications management role.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Constant Contact, and Canva. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign a plus).
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Outstanding organizational and project management skills; ability to balance long-term goals with day-to-day deliverables under deadline.
Demonstrated proficiency in communicating and engaging diverse constituencies across an organization.
Proven track record of developing integrated marketing strategies and multi-platform communications campaigns.
Experience producing print and digital marketing collateral (newsletters, brochures, one-pagers, etc.).
Self-starter who remains calm, adaptable, and resourceful under pressure.
Availability to work programs scheduled on evenings or weekends.
Willingness to adjust hours based on seasonal needs (i.e. During the High Holy Days and staffing Shabbat services on occasion).
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to make independent decisions.
Understanding of and/or experience working in the Jewish community is desirable.
