Job description
About the job
Rally is hiring a Technical Co-Founder and Founding Engineer to take long-term ownership of our technology.
Important: Rally is currently bootstrapped. This is an equity-based co-founder opportunity and does not include a guaranteed salary initially. We are looking for someone who wants meaningful ownership of the company—not a short-term freelance project.
About Rally
Rally is building the operating system for live events. We bring ticketing, payments, attendee management, transportation, vendors, production, documents, safety, and door operations into one platform. We are starting with college concerts and organization-led events, where organizers currently rely on spreadsheets, group chats, screenshots, and disconnected tools.
An extensive product foundation and initial codebase already exist. The founding engineer will evaluate what has been built, establish the production architecture, and lead the platform from its current stage through launch and scale.
What you will own
• Full-stack architecture and engineering
• Technical roadmap and infrastructure decisions
• Secure authentication, permissions, and role-based portals
• Ticket inventory, allocations, checkout, transfers, refunds, and audit history
• Stripe payments, webhooks, financial ledgers, reconciliation, and chargebacks
• Unique QR ticket generation, validation, scanning, and duplicate-use prevention
• Real-time attendee states, check-in, entry, exit, and capacity tracking
• Contract and document upload, signature status, versioning, and secure storage
• Notifications across email, text, and in-app channels
• Database integrity, observability, backups, security, and incident response
• Testing for traffic spikes, payment failures, scanner failures, and unreliable venue connectivity
• Deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, technical documentation, and future engineering hiring
What we are looking for
• Strong experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
• Ability to independently take a product from an existing codebase to a reliable production launch
• Experience with payment systems such as Stripe, including webhooks, idempotency, refunds, reconciliation, and failure handling
• Understanding of secure QR codes, ticket validation, authorization, audit logs, and fraud prevention
• Experience designing role-based, multi-tenant applications with sensitive customer and payment data
• Strong judgment around system architecture, testing, security, and reliability
• Willingness to speak with customers and make product decisions—not only complete assigned tickets
• Clear communication, high integrity, urgency, and consistent follow-through
Helpful but not required
• Experience with ticketing, marketplaces, fintech, event technology, or high-traffic consumer products
• Experience building offline-capable or low-connectivity scanning systems
• Experience with Stripe Connect, Supabase, AWS, Docker, automated testing, and observability
• Experience founding a company, leading engineers, or owning a production platform
