Job description
The opportunity.
Join our team as a Senior Software Engineer, building the trading systems at the core of our platform. We have recently been migrating critical trading workflows onto Aeron-based sequenced-log architecture and this role sits at the heart of that platform: you will join one of the teams running services on top of it, matched to the team that best fits your strengths and interests during the interview process.
We are also an AI-native engineering organization: the majority of our pull requests are AI-written and AI-reviewed, supported by in-house agent tooling built directly into our monorepo, so engineers spend their time on design, correctness, and leverage rather than boilerplate.
We are looking for an engineer with a background in capital markets, trading workflows, or electronic trading systems. You have strong skills in system design, you focus on observability and testing, and you leverage AI to move faster without sacrificing quality. Within your first six months, you will tackle key projects
such as:
Feature Expansion: Ship new trading protocol capabilities at high velocity on our Aeron-based platform, supporting a growing client base and increased trading volumes.
Platform Modernization: Evolve our service architecture — migrating remaining workflows onto the new stack and designing the messaging patterns that connect it to the rest of the platform.
System Optimization: Improve platform scalability, performance, and test coverage for systems where correctness is the product.
Responsibilities include:
Design, Develop and Test: Build protocols and features to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
Support and Maintain: Ensure the reliability and availability of services developed by the team, addressing production issues and continuously improving operational processes.
Optimize Performance: Improve system performance for low latency and high throughput, crucial in trading systems.
Collaborate: Work with cross-functional teams to execute projects and contribute to a team-oriented culture.
About You.
We’re seeking an engineer with experience in financial services, trade workflows, or electronic trading systems. Your qualifications include:
Location: U.S., EST Time Zone
Industry Experience: 7+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably in capital markets or trading workflows.
Programming Skills: Proficiency in JVM-based languages (Scala preferred); ability to write clean and maintainable code.
Distributed Systems: Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable systems.
Network Protocols & Messaging: Familiarity with technologies such as TCP/IP, FIX, Kafka, or Aeron.
Cloud Technologies: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
AI-Assisted Development: Ability to effectively use AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude Code) to accelerate delivery and improve quality while maintaining strong engineering judgment.
Performance Optimization: Understanding of low latency, high-throughput systems.
SDLC Practices: Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including agile practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Continuous Improvement: Commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
More About Us and our Tech Stack.
Languages and Frameworks: We primarily use Scala with ZIO, Pekko and gRPC.
Messaging Technologies: Our messaging systems include Kafka and Aeron.
Containerization and Orchestration: We rely on Kubernetes and Docker to build, deliver, and scale containerized services.
AI-Native Engineering: Agent tooling, automated review, and AI-assisted workflows are built into our development platform.
Company Culture: We value a collaborative team environment where your technical views and leadership abilities are highly appreciated.
Employee Benefits.
Highly competitive compensation
Fully paid medical, dental and vision coverage
Team-oriented and collaborative company culture
