Job description

Why This Role Matters

Identity is the control plane of modern zero trust security, and Access Management is at its very core. Every application, workload, and AI agent now asks the same question before anything else happens: who is this user, and should they be granted access? Access Management is where these question gets answered, thousands of times per second, for organizations that cannot afford to get it wrong. Today, a confluence of market forces—including emerging anti-phishing mandates, sophisticated AI-powered threats, and the rise of agentic and other non-human identities—are dramatically reshaping the Access Management landscape and opening new opportunities for innovation and growth.

RSA ID Plus sits at the center of this market shift. Recognized as a leading Access Management solution with more than 3000 customers in 100+ countries worldwide, RSA ID Plus is trusted by the world’s most security-sensitive organizations including 70% of Fortune 100 Financial Services, 90% of US Federal Agencies, and more that 65 International Governments around the globe. What makes RSA different is our cybersecurity DNA, 40+ years of redefining the identity security market, and our laser focus on securing the world’s most secure. RSA ID Plus is the only identity platform that provides true passwordless from cloud to desktop to the datacenter, ensures continuous assurance beyond phishing to tackle today’s most advanced identity threats, and can be deployed in any environment including multi-tenant SaaS, private cloud, on-premises, and even air-gapped environments.

Job Description
The Field CTO is the most senior technical voice for RSA ID Plus in the market. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to CISOs, CIOs, and enterprise architects at our most strategic accounts, shape the technical narrative for the platform, and represent RSA with industry analysts, at industry events, and in the public forum. The role sits at the intersection of technology, strategy, and the field: equally comfortable whiteboarding a zero trust architecture with a customer's security team and briefing executives on where the identity market is heading.

The successful candidate must be a recognized identity and cybersecurity expert with the credibility to hold the room in front of a Fortune 100 security organization or a federal agency, and the commercial instinct to turn that credibility into pipeline and design wins. Just as importantly, they will carry what they learn in the field back into the business, translating customer conversations, competitive encounters, and market signals into a sharper strategy and a stronger story for ID Plus. This is a highly visible, self-directed role for someone who thrives on a large cross-functional team and leads through influence rather than authority.

The successful Field CTO will:

• Serve as trusted technical advisor to RSA's most strategic customers and prospects, engaging CISOs, CIOs, and enterprise architects on identity strategy, zero trust architecture, and modernization roadmaps.

• Act as the primary technical evangelist for ID Plus through keynotes, conference sessions, webinars, whitepapers, and executive briefings, and lead analyst briefings alongside Product Management and Product Marketing.

• Support complex, high-value sales cycles in regulated and enterprise environments, partnering with Sales and Solution Architecture to remove technical obstacles and win architectural decisions.

• Maintain a rigorous view of the competitive landscape, from technical capability comparisons to positioning implications, and equip the field with the arguments needed to win against it.

• Partner with Product Management and Product Marketing to shape platform strategy, refine positioning and messaging, and feed field insight into long-range strategic planning.

• Build the technical credibility of the broader field organization through enablement, architecture guidance, and mentoring of solution architects and sales engineers.

Qualifications
• 12+ years in senior technical roles such as Field CTO, Chief Architect, Principal Solution Architect, or Security Strategist, with extensive customer-facing experience.

• Deep subject matter expertise in Identity & Access Management principles, including major technology standards in authentication (NIST SP800-63, FIDO2, X.509), federation and authorization (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC), and emerging technologies (SSF, Verifiable Credentials).

• Demonstrated ability to design and defend enterprise security architectures across SaaS, private cloud, on-premises, and air-gapped environments.

• Proven executive presence and commercial acumen, with a track record of advising CISOs and CIOs and influencing large, complex enterprise sales cycles without owning a quota.

• Established industry voice, evidenced by conference speaking, published thought leadership, analyst engagement, or standards body participation.

• Strong analytical skills and command of the competitive landscape, able to translate technical differentiation into defensible positioning and messaging, and to contribute that insight to product strategy and long-range planning.

• Superior written and verbal communication skills, equally effective on a keynote stage, in a customer architecture review, and in an executive strategy discussion.

• Independent self-starter who sets direction in ambiguity and operates effectively across a large, globally distributed organization.

• Willingness to travel up to 30% for customer meetings, industry events, and speaking engagements.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science; advanced degree a plus.
