Job description

Responsibilities:

Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.Reports test results in a timely manner according to established laboratory protocols.Assess competency of team members.Assesses quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with regulatory and departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols.Assists with the development of training material and the competency assessment tools used by the department and ensure that all associated documentation is kept up to date.Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels. Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.Effectively manages resources such as productivity, supplies, instruments and equipment. Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner.Establishes policies, procedures, and protocols for testing performed in a defined laboratory section(s). Defines analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and reference ranges for test methods. Oversees quality control testing and instrument maintenance.Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.Oversees inventory management and provides input into the budget process.Perform method validations and ongoing method assessments.

Education and Certification Requirements:

Bachelors (Required)Clinical Lab Supervisor License (SU LICENSE) – State of Florida (FL)

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Advanced knowledge of laboratory procedures and instrumentation. Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers. Advanced knowledge of laboratory information systems. Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Work Experience: Three (3) years of supervisory experience required.
