Early Childhood Center Student Support Assistant

Essential Responsibilities

Assist the lead teacher with classroom support
Provide direct support to children with varying needs during classroom time
Float between classrooms as needed to maintain appropriate student-teacher ratios and support classroom management best practices or student support plans
Foster a positive classroom environment where all children feel valued
Model and encourage appropriate social interaction and conflict resolution
Step into classrooms as needed to provide coverage for breaks and additional support during transitions, circle time, centers, outdoor play etc.
Promoting the school philosophy, goals and values stated in the Employee Handbook

Additional Requirements

Must be 18 years of age
High school diploma required
Coursework or background in Early Childhood Education, Special Education or related field
Previous experience working with students with special needs preferred
Must fulfill the minimum requirements put forth by Virginia Department of Education
Experience working with children required
Must be comfortable with small digital technology
Must be physically able to perform the job of a student support teacher, which requires standing for extended periods of time, walking, bending, stooping, crawling and
