Job description
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or certification in medical administration preferred.
Minimum of 2 years experience in a medical office or administrative role, preferably with exposure to worker’s compensation processes.
Proficiency in medical terminology, especially related to worker’s compensation and occupational health.
Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a Medical Secretary or Medical Administrative Assistant (e.g., CMAA).
Experience working directly with worker’s compensation insurance carriers and claims management.
Familiarity with state-specific worker’s compensation laws and regulations.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored to medical and insurance contexts.
Epic experience a plus
Responsibilities:
Manage and organize worker’s compensation case files, including medical records, claim forms, and correspondence.
Coordinate communication between healthcare providers, insurance adjusters, employers, and patients to ensure timely information exchange.
Schedule and confirm appointments related to worker’s compensation evaluations and treatments.
Prepare and submit accurate documentation and reports required for worker’s compensation claims and audits.
Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations while handling sensitive patient and claim information.
Assist in billing and coding processes specific to worker’s compensation cases, ensuring proper claim submission.
Track and follow up on outstanding claims, authorizations, and approvals to facilitate prompt case resolution.
Provide administrative support to medical staff by managing correspondence, answering inquiries, and maintaining organized records.
