Job description
Primary Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, fuel systems, and emissions components.
Perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and scheduled fleet maintenance to ensure vehicles remain safe, reliable, and compliant.
Use OEM diagnostic software, onboard computer systems, and specialized diagnostic equipment to identify and repair mechanical and electrical issues.
Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications, factory service manuals, and Waste Pro quality standards.
Perform welding, fabrication, and other metal repairs as needed.
Mentor and assist apprentice and junior technicians by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
Accurately complete repair orders, inspections, and maintenance documentation in a timely manner.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while properly caring for company tools and equipment.
Follow all OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and Waste Pro safety policies and procedures.
Work closely with the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor and Operations team to maximize fleet uptime and minimize equipment downtime.
Respond to road calls and emergency repairs as needed to safely return vehicles to service.
Perform additional duties and special projects assigned to support the maintenance department and overall operation.
Additional Responsibilities
Attend and participate in company-sponsored training and development programs as assigned.
Stay current on the technology, equipment, and systems used by Waste Pro that are relevant to the position.
Perform additional duties and special projects assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager to support business and operational needs.

Qualifications
Ability to perform drivetrain inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
Ability to perform general engine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
Ability to perform transmission inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
Ability to perform outside repair inspection reviews.
Ability to assess structural damage and determine the necessary repairs.
Ability to provide assistance, guidance, and direction to all shop technicians.
CDL Class B license preferred, or the ability to obtain a CDL Class B license.
Ability to obtain seven (7) ASE Certifications, or the equivalent, within 36 months of employment.
Three (3) to five (5) years of hands-on technical experience in the maintenance and repair of medium- and heavy-duty Class 8 vehicles and equipment, preferably in the waste or recycling industry.
Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements related to commercial vehicle fleet maintenance.
Ability to effectively use computers for data tracking, communication, maintenance software (Dossier), Microsoft Office, and other job-related applications.
